IRQL NOT EQUAL OR LESS Error Message in Vista
Hits:56
Q: When I boot up my Vista machine, it runs fine for a couple of minutes, then it reverts to a blue screen with an error message "IRQL NOT EQUAL OR LESS". It has more of a message but Vista restarts so quickly that I do not have a chance to read the entire message. Do you know how I can go about troubleshooting this issue?
A: The reason this is happening is because the Kernel, which is the core component of the Windows operation system is attempting to access a memory location at an interrupt request level (IRQL) where there appears to be a problem. To read more about blue screen errors, visit the link below:

There are many reasons why this could be happening. Without more information, it would be impossible to determine the cause. In order to keep Vista from automatically restarting so that you can read the whole error message, you will need to turn the auto-start feature off. Here's a link to the instructions on how this is done:

A few things you can try to troubleshooting this error are:
Try reseating your memory modules inside your computers case.
If you have recently installed new device drivers, try rolling back to the older or original version.
If you have recently installed a new hardware device, try removing the device from the system.
If you have recently installed a new piece of software, try uninstalling it.
