How to pencil in appointments

If you need to reserve time for an event but you are not sure of the exact time, you can put a tilde (~) in front of the event's description and give it an estimated time span with enough margin to cover the event. As an example; if your boss mentioned that he/she would like to meet with you Tuesday morning but did not commit to a time yet, you can make an entry called "~meeting w/boss" and a time span of 8:00am to 12:00pm. This way, you will not schedule anything between these time periods and avoid over committing yourself.
