Typically, this error occurs if you have or had another CD recording program installed on your machine and then installed Nero. To resolve this issue, Nero recommends downloading the Driver-CleanTool and RegistryChecker from ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/Driver_CleanTool_and_RegistryChecker.html. Extract the downloaded files onto your hard drive using WinZip or WinRAR.

After unzipping the files, you should have two files: Driver-CleanTool.exe and RegistryChecker.exe. First, double-click the Driver-CleanTool.exe to run it. This tool disables drivers that can cause problems with Nero. Next, double-click RegistryChecker.exe to run it. This tool removes all links to drivers of earlier CD recording software you may have had installed on your PC.
